James SwantonBorn July 1862 in County Cork, Ireland James Swanton was the son of Michael Swanton and Elizabeth Bradfield Swanton. He was baptized on June 15 in the Roman Catholic Church of Enniskeane, County Cork Ireland . Michael and Elizabeth Swanton lived in the townland of Boulteen, parish of Desertserges, County Cork. They were Roman Catholics. James came to America with his parents, arriving in the port of Boston on August 15, 1880 on the ship SS Samaria. On August 18, 1885, he married Ellen Ahern. In 1900, Ellen and James Swanton lived at 185 Bowen Street, South Boston, MA. James died on June 21, 1901 of pleuro pneumonia (8 days) and oedema of the lungs (3 days). He was buried at Holy Cross Cemetary in Malden, MA. There is no marker for his grave. Ellen Ahern Swanton died on December 15, 1930, and she is also buried at Holy Cross Cemetary in Malden. Josephine Swanton, age 1, is also buried in the same site as Ellen. Josephine was buried on October 3, 1910.
